Of Reparation and Extinction; Blooms of Commerce and Deliria
In reflection of the Victorian era of floral mania, this work comments on the hysterical practice of orchid collection, the domination and violence of the trade both historically and contemporarily. Considering the commercial trade of one of the most commodified plants in the industry in relation to the ideas of cultivation and wild manicuring, this work, presents meticulously placed orchid flowers and buds in mass, both nodding to the human control of nature, the excessive repetition of harvest, and the uniqueness of natural structure.
